Airfix 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero

This is the review of the 1/72 Mitubishi Zero by Airfix.

The zero was a feared fighter during WW2. It was light, agile, and with a good acelaration and rate of climb.

When it entered on duty, USA didn't had anything that could match it, the P40 was its first opponent, which had to use good tactics to be able to face it.

But it had flaws... It was underarmed, didn't had any kind of armour nor self sealing fuel tanks... That was the price of its agility and notorious performance...

By the end of the war, the F6F hellcat forced its pilots to change of tactics, and it was no match for it...

Airfix model kit is marvelous. Good amount of detail, the guns are well made, seen on the cockpit.

Landing gear wells are nice, although it could be a little bit deeper...

And it fits perfectly. Its not a weekend build, its a 5/6 hours build if you use superglue.

Its a calm and quiet build, good for beginners, and good for experts, a way of relaxing! Like model building should be.

I can only say, as a final remark, that even if it seems simple, if it is a fast build, it will look astonishing on any shelf. Airfix is dealing the cards here, with simplicity and precision. Even if there was a small amount of flash on some parts...
